Stoke Gifford, Bristol

Project Description

Our clients were looking to transform their sloping, rather impractical garden, into a far more usable & contemporary space. They also wanted to bring colour into the garden with additional planting and have some room for vegetables.

It was decided fairly early on to retain part of the existing Red brick wall. We then re-shaped the remaining parts of the wall to generate a more practical and contemporary lay out, in turn creating a far more appealing and importantly, level area of lawn for them to relax on.

The existing paving was replaced with a very sleek sawn Mint Sandstone, which was continued around the side of the house increasing the amount of usable space. This was carefully chosen to match the shade of flooring in their kitchen and provide a sense of continuation.

Raised beds were used around the boundary of the garden to bring in that all important colour and importantly act as retaining walls at the top of the garden. A couple of raised beds helped to frame the seating areas and are perfect for growing vegetables & herbs in.

Client Feedback

“Phil was helpful from the first visit through to completion. He came up with a number of ideas which we would not normally have considered and resulted in us having a garden we are very pleased with!”
